Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell was hired by the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington the following year, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News a year later. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 and was also the Chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular as a guest on TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was on the panel at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first reported on for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arms control, budget tax reforms and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits as part of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
